What exactly are
lip fillers?

What do they inject to give lips more volume? If you thought a lip filler involves injecting water, silicone or botox into your lips, you're wrong.
It uses hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally occurring in the body. Hyaluronic acid is produced and broken down by the body. The stories you often hear about "silicone and implants" are in this case nothing more than a myth.

Please note that there are many different types of filler available on the market. Sarasin Clinic has over 10 years of experience in fillers and other injectables. So we know very well which products are and which are not suitable for treatment with a good and natural result. So with Sarasin Clinic, you choose a secure, safe party to have fillers placed in Ghent.

At Sarasin Clinic, we apply a combination of two different injection techniques, namely the Russian Injection technique and the linear technique.

Lip fillers with Russian technique

In a standard lip filler treatment, we aim for a 1/3 - 2/3 ratio. This means that the upper lip comprises 1/3 of the lip volume versus 2/3 for the lower lip. With the - nowadays much sought-after - Russian technique, this is more likely to be 1/2 - 1/2, where both lips are thus given approximately the same volume.

Sarasin Clinic applies a combination of both techniques to achieve the optimal result for your facial type and desires. This can range from a very natural to a slightly more expressive look. Our doctors are of course available for each treatment to advise you appropriately on the most appropriate treatment method.

Who are lip fillers suitable for?

With confessions from celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, among others, there is less taboo and more openness about the use of fillers. There has been a marked increase in the number of treatments.

There is no age on fillers, although you must be at least 18 years old by law. In addition, we see different clients and desires in the practice. Both women and men of different ages.

Sometimes it is about restoring lost volume whether due to aging or not. Other times, it's about assymetry or visibly enlarging the lips for a slightly more dramatic effect.

What is the effect of lip fillers?

We can best demonstrate the effect of lip fillers through photographic evidence. There you will quickly see what effect you can expect from this filler treatment. Therefore be sure to check out our before and after page with numerous photos!

In short, you will be able to count on fuller lips, which come out a little wider and higher than before. Don't panic though, because at Sarasin Clinic we always ensure the most natural result possible. That gives you the best looks, and therefore the best feeling. Rock that look, baby!

Frequently asked questions about
lip fillers in Ghent

How long do lip fillers last?

It is not a permanent substance which means you would have to inject new lip fillers after 6 to 12 months to maintain the results.

How does the treatment proceed?

An injection is done by appointment. You book a consultation with our doctors via the website. During the consultation you will receive extensive advice about the treatment(s). If you only want information you only pay for the consultation, if you choose for the treatment you only pay for the fillers.

For lip filling we can apply a strong anesthetic ointment. This will make the treatment painless.

The effects are immediately visible and improve in the following weeks.

Does lip plumping hurt?

If we were to fill in the lips without anesthesia, the vast majority of people hurt very badly. Our lips are one of the most sensitive parts of our body.
Good news we numb the lips with a strong anesthetic ointment so you will not experience any pain.

How do I care for my lips afterwards?

48 hours after treatment, preferably do not touch the lips or wear makeup (lipstick/gloss), and it is better not to exercise for a while.

In addition, the lips may be swollen an ice pack can help with swelling. Any bruising will disappear after +/- 3 days.

Can you undo fillers?

As touched on above, fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance that our bodies make and can also break down. Now this takes as long as 6-12 months.

Sometimes people come to us who have had fillers placed at another clinic and are not satisfied with the results.
Of course it is then a long time to walk around with it for 12 months. No stress!

There is an antidote to Hyaluronic Acid, namely Hyaluronidase that dissolves the hyaluronic acid in the lips in no time.

How many ml of filler do I need?

The amount of filler needed to fill or lips varies from person to person.

The first time always requires a little more filler than subsequent times. The first time the filler is going to disappear a little faster, full lips you have to build up in stages.

When the lip is still completely "empty," some of the filler goes into the holes in the tissue. We call this the base layer. The lip becomes firm, but is not yet enlarged. Next time, the filler will adhere better and last longer.
Usually we start with 1ML of filler, 0.5ML is more for touch-ups or for very natural results. Afterwards, we can inject additional MLs if you want even more volume.

Are there alternatives to lip fillers?

If you want more volume in the lips, hyaluronic acid filler is the most obvious solution. However, the result is temporary, if you want a permanent solution you can go for lipofilling of the lips.

Lipofilling is the filling of lips with your own fat. At Sarasin Clinic, we work with Injectors as well as plastic surgeons who can advise you on surgical or non-surgical options to augment your lips.

What do lip fillers cost?
